A bob is a type of hairstyle and also a moe point in ACG subculture.
Introduction
The bob is a type of short hair (it can also belong to the category of medium-length hair). In Japanese, it is known as okappa (おかっぱ). It is characterized for having bangs that are no longer than the eyebrows, a back part that is no longer than the neck, and the hair on both sides being at ear level and covering the ears. Both men and women can have bobs, but it is mainly used by women. Many female characters with bobs wear hairpins on their heads.
Girls with bobs usually appear to be cute, well-behaved and serious, but there are also many characters who do not fit these characteristics.
The characters who have bobs aren't necessarily younger brothers or sisters, there can also be older sisters with bobs. Although the general public's impression of them is that they look childish, there are also examples of modified bobs used to express sassy characters, creating a gap moe effect.
