Odeko (おでこ) is a synonym for a hairstyle without bangs (or with bangs rolled up), and is also one of the moe points in ACG subculture.

Introduction

The word odeko could refer to any taller and longer forehead, however, in 2D terms, this word has become a synonym for a front hairstyle that does not cover the forehead with bangs but exposes a large area of the forehead.

Hairstyles that do not cover the forehead with bangs but expose a large portion of the forehead are quite common in real life.

However, in terms of facial appearance, bangs are considered bad and exposing the forehead is good.

On the other hand, in most cases, fictional characters have bangs covering their forheads. Even girls who claim their hair is not trimmed much also have bangs covering their foreheads. In 2D works, there are relatively few girls who do not cover their foreheads with bangs, but instead expose a large area of their foreheads.

It may be that the front hair itself is combed back to blend with the back hair, or it may be that the bangs are left but swept to the sides, resulting in less coverage of the forehead.
